Late Winter Road

Northern Ontario roads sometimes cut straight through the rock, leaving tall faces of stone exposed beside the pavement.  Late in winter, snow and ice cling to those surfaces as the weather shifts between freezing and thawing,  building pale patterns along the darker rock. It's that in-between part of the season - cold air, melting edges, wet pavement and winter still hanging on.
